Causes of Gonorhhea

Bacteria named as Neisseria gonorrhoeae leads to an infection called Gonorrhea. It affects the reproductive tract thereby affecting the mucous membranes of the eyes, throat, mouth, and rectum.

The Gonorhhea infection is normally transmitted via sexual contact with a person who is already infected involving the anus, penis, vagina, or mouth. Transmission of Gonorrhea in men does not happen by ejaculation.

Gonorrhea is a condition that can be passed from an infected mother to her unborn child during delivery. Any person who is sexually active including a teenager or a young adult is at a higher risk of getting infected by Gonorhhea. This STD doesn’t spread due to a casual contact such as sharing food, holding hands, hugging, kissing, and sitting on the same toilet seat, etc.
